Andrea Gagliardi received her Master’s Degree in Communication, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University in May 2012. Within the program she concentrated on Media and Politics through her coursework and internship experiences. Andrea is currently an employee of Strategic Operational Solutions and works as a contractor with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Infrastructure Protection supporting the National Infrastructure Advisory Council (NIAC). She has worked with the NIAC since 2014. She is a holder of an Interim Secret Clearance and DHS Suitability.
Through the 2012 election cycle, Andrea worked at Targeted Victory, a digital campaign strategy firm where she worked with ad vendors to place online advertisements for clients including Mitt Romney for President. Andrea started at Targeted Victory as an intern, researching digital trends in political campaigns, writing a daily internal newsletter, and assisting with candidates’ wordpress sites.
Prior to her work at Targeted Victory, she interned at The U.S. House of Representatives in the office of Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, where her work consisted of communicating with constituents through phone calls and emails, as well as giving personal tours of the Capitol Building. Both of these internships have been part time, completed while she has taken classes such as Media and American Elections, Communication and Political Engagement, Persuasion and Influence, and Critical Studies in Journalism. Andrea’s interest in government and politics began at a young age when she supported President George H.W. Bush during his reelection campaign at just four years old. The interest continued throughout her life and sparked during the 2008 election when two women she could relate to had the chance to occupy the White House. Incidentally, 2008 was the first presidential election Andrea was old enough to vote in.
This renewed interest in politics came while Andrea was studying Communications Studies and Health Care Administration at Stonehill College. Andrea added her interest in politics into her existing studies by taking classes such as Rhetoric of American Women and Health Care Law. She also used her interests in communications and politics as President of the College Republicans and Public Relations Manager of the student newspaper, The Summit. She also completed a summer internship in the district office of New York State Senator Bill Larkin.
