During my undergraduate career, I took two classes in Public Relations. The first was a general public relations course, which I took during my semester abroad in Florence, Italy. I took this course Scuoula Lorenze de’Medici, which is owned by Marist College. In this class we studied public relations techniques, focussing on crisis communications. It was very interesting to learn about PR from a European perspective. I wrote my final paper on the handling of crisis’ by Norwegian Cruise Line.
I continued my study of Public Relations when I returned to Stonehill by taking a class in Public Relations Practices. For this class, I had to choose a client to focus on throughout the semester, creating a full public relations portfolio. I chose Olympic Gymnast Shawn Johnson as my client. During my senior year of college I also served as the Public Relations Manager of the student newspaper, The Summit for which I earned a student activities scholarship.
